Comparing the quality of stainless steel cutlery
Posting date: 28th May 2007 21:37
A key specification to look for is the quality of the stainless steel.
18/10 stainless steel is the best. It means it contains 18% chromium, and 10% nickel. The more nickel, the more the steel resists corrosion. So don't pay a high price for 18/0 stainless steel, for example.
The best thing to do is to hold the cutlery before you buy it. Cutlery with 18/10 has a wonderful feel to them and a better polish.
Remember that even the best stainless steel can occassionally get stains on it that can usually be removed with a stainless steel cleaner.
A good design of cutlery should also have good balance and sit really comfortably in the hand. Take it out and try it!
